Established in the late 90's as part of the Rulers' vision to turn Dubai into one of the leading tourist destinations in the world, Nakheel is a premier development company that is proud of its title of "The World's Leading Tourism Property Development Company."

As Dubai is well known for its year-round sun and pristine beaches, it became apparent that, in order to increase the country's economy, its coastline which was limited to only 70Km, had to be developed. Thus Nakheel created a variety of landmark developments including The Palm islands and The World.
