Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

VICTORIA & ALFRED WATERFRONT

One of Cape Town's biggest tourist attractions, the Waterfront evokes images of the early activities of the harbour. Much of its charm lies in the fact that this busy commercial harbour is set in the midst of a huge entertainment venue with pubs, restaurants, specialty shops, craft markets, theatres and movies. The addition of hotels and residences complete this multi purpose waterfront property and is a destination of millions worldwide.

Nkomazi Game Reserve is "One of a Kind" and the borders of South Africa, Swaziland and close by Mozambique, each lie within reach of it. The Barberton region is close by and is home to some of the earlier strivings of humankind and was also the location of the first Southern African Goldfields. The Kruger National Park, world famous game reserve, touches here too

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, 54 000 hectares of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous fauna and flora, rock formations and rock is a destination not to be missed.

Singita Lebombo Lodge, Kruger National Park, South Africa SINGITA LEBOMBO LODGE

Singita Lebombo Lodge is situated on the far eastern reaches of the Kruger National Park, not too far from South Africa's border with Mozambique. The Lodge rests lightly among the ancient boulders of the Lebombo mountains, overlooking the African plain where two rivers meet. Like the Lebombo Euphorbia tree after which it was named, the design of Lebombo Lodge is one of a kind. From the sweeping wooden decks, you can watch the theatre that unfolds before you, while the lap pool beckons to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. The fifteen suites feature contemporary finishes with beds dressed with Egyptian cotton and silky-soft throws. Enjoy dinner in the boma, then spend the evening, if you so wish, sleeping under the stars on the bed of your private terrace.

Bubye River Conservancy BUBYE RIVER CONSERVANCY

Bubye River Conservancy is located in the lowveld of Zimbabwe, 60 kilometers from the South African border, straddling the Bubye River.

Bubye is the largest private assembly of conservation land in Zimbabwe and likely the largest privately owned "Big 5" reserve in Africa. With a surface area of 3,200 km², the Bubye River Conservancy is larger than 53 of the world's countries.

Wildlife populations have been supplemented by the introduction of a number of indigenous species. The Conservancy is now stocked with the full spectrum of species indigenous to the area. This includes viable and sizeable populations of the "Big 5" species and notably is one of the largest populations of black rhino in Zimbabwe.

The habitats and scenery of the Conservancy are diverse, ranging from granite hills and whalebacks in the north, through riverine fringing vegetation in the centre, to open wooded grasslands in the south, Bubye River Conservancy is truly an awe inspiring sight to be seen.

This is a viable and well developed private game reserve with a substantial built-in infrastructure, on a scale that cannot be matched anywhere else in Africa.

Akagera Safari Lodge AKAGERA SAFARI LODGE

Rwanda is a landlocked republic in Equatorial Africa, situated on the eastern rim of the Albertine Rift, a western arm of the Great Rift Valley, on the watershed between Africa's two largest river systems: the Nile and the Congo. Much of the country's 26,338 km² is impressively mountainous. Set at a relatively low altitude on the border with Tanzania, Akagera National Park could scarcely be more different in mood to the breezy cultivated hills that characterise much of Rwanda.

Akagera is, above all, big game country! Herds of Elephant and Buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while lucky visitors might stumble across a Leopard, a spotted Hyena or even a stray Lion, Giraffe and Zebra. More than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnutcoated Impala, but also the diminutive Oribi and secretive Bushbuck, as well as the ungainly Tsessebe and the world's largest antelope, the statuesque Cape eland.

The new development at Akagera will include luxury rooms, all day dining facilities, residential apartments and private villas, incredible views from the public lookout areas, Business Centre and Conference room for approx 60 people, retail outlets, coffee bar, pool and kids pool as well as a pool bar. The lodge will also feature a play area for children and luxury Spa and a Fitness Club.

Gorillas Nest Lodge GORILLAS NEST LODGE

Situated in the far northwest of Rwanda, the Parc des Volcans protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range, home of the rare mountain gorilla. An exhilarating trek through the cultivated foothills of the Virungas offers stirring views in all directions.

Gorillas Nest Lodge is in close proximity to the Parc National des Volcans and is ideally located near the park’s headquarters. Gorillas Nest Lodge has been built under trees with the rooms set around an African style courtyard. The lodge consists of 20 double rooms & 2 suites. The rooms all face the Eucalyptus forest, and the spectacular scenery of the volcanoes. In addition, the Jack Hanna cottage is a stand alone house with 2 bedrooms en suite, lounge, dining room, and kitchen. (Full butler service available).

Facilities on the lodge include; Restaurant, Bar, Meeting Room, Beauty Treatment facilities and a 9 hole Golf course that will re-open in October 2009.

Nyungwe Forest Lodge NYUNGWE FOREST LODGE

Extending for 1,000 km² across the majestic hills of southwest Rwanda, Nyungwe National Park is the largest block of montane forest in East or Central Africa, and one of the most ancient, dating back to before the last Ice Age.

A uniquely rich centre of floral diversity, the forest has more than 200 different types of trees, and a myriad of flowering plants including the other-worldly giant lobelia and a host of colourful orchids. The Nyungwe Forest Lodge is located in the southwest of Rwanda, situated at the edge of the Nyungwe Forest.

Development is nearly completed on the luxury lodge and spa and the architecture and design of the main building takes some of its influence from traditional Rwandese buildings. Local materials and construction methods are used to the greatest extent possible. Like most Rwandan architecture, the buildings are objects blending with the landscape, and the resulting spaces are comfortable and elegant, celebrating the site with views over the tea plantation and to the forest beyond Nyungwe is most alluring for its primates: 13 species in all, including humankind's closest living relative the chimpanzee.

Initiative is underway to create chimpanzee trekking experiences similar to that of the Gorilla experience and development of suspended canopy walks through the forest.
